SportsMEDIA Technology Corporation Announces New Interactive Touchscreen Technology for On-Air Sports Analysts

October 01, 2009

The GOTO Board™ with Drag-n-View™ technology provides real time interactivity enhancing the on-air viewing experience

Durham, NC - SportsMEDIA Technology Corporation has introduced a new product solution that combines SportsMEDIA’s vast experience in real-time data, graphics, and video integration with state of the art touch screen technology.

SportsMEDIA launched the GOTO Board™ (Giant On-Air Talent Operated Board) during Turner Sports 2008-2009 NBA coverage on NBA-TV and TNT. NBA On-air Analysts have used the Board leading up to and during the 2009 NBA Playoffs.

“The GOTO Board with its Drag-n-View technology allows broadcasters to engage their audience in new and exciting ways,” said Don Tupper, Vice President of Business Development for SportsMEDIA. “Drag-n-View™ technology provides On-Air Talent with the ability to navigate through a virtual world of informative displays and to interact with and manipulate on-screen graphics to illustrate their personal game analysis to the viewer.”

SportsMEDIA recognized that many broadcasters had already made a significant investment in large screen studio displays, which may or may not have touch-screen capability, consequently, SportsMEDIA’s engineers were tasked to design GOTO Board upgrade paths for any situation.

The GOTO Board system offers high performance features including simple third-party data feed integration, touch-screen navigation and customable client graphics support.

“Integrating a GOTO Board into a live studio broadcast greatly enhances the viewer’s experience,” said Gerard J. Hall, President of SportsMEDIA. “The GOTO Board allows for the On-Air Talent to illustrate their analysis in a compelling visual way and perhaps more importantly gives them control over how the timing of visual support for their analysis is presented. This technology takes our clients to another level, upgrading their studio presentations dramatically.”

The net result of this design effort is that SportsMEDIA offers the GOTO Board with Drag-n-View technology in a variety of configurations: from a turnkey package which includes a large-screen display to a retrofit package for transforming existing large screen displays (regardless of touch-screen capability) into a GOTO Board.

Add-on features include; SportsMEDIA’s PRIZE package – providing enhanced digital zoom with roll and pan; and SportsMEDIA’s TIP-Cpackage – providing Talent with touch control of video clip playback.
