Durham tech firm to provide live game stats for NCAA tourney
As you fill out your brackets, Durham-based graphic design firm SMT is gearing up for March Madness, too. For the 15th year, the company will be providing live game statistics and timing for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
The technology synchronizes clock, scores and statistics from the games and then feeds that data in real-time to the tournament graphics package.
SMT also has a data operations center in Durham that has three levels of backup and spotters in place for each game.
This year, broadcasters get new features, such as a new HD prompter that will give on-air talent more statistics to review before they decide what to put on screen.
